The name Budokon was created by its founder, Kancho Cameron Shayne. It was taken from the Japanese language: Bu (meaning warrior), Do (meaning the way), Kon (meaning the spirit or soul). This translates as “the way of the warrior spirit”. This name was chosen to represent a person living the WAY of the betterment of all humanity achieved through the SPIRIT of unwavering virtue and defended by the WARRIOR's service, protection, and courage. 


Budokon is an integral approach to the study of the universe and our relationship within it through the study of the Yogic, Martial, and Living arts. Budokon has a six pillar system which makes a body of science and philosophy used as a method to provide a practical means of realizing the highest ideals in daily living. Rather than separating different areas of human knowledge 

Budokon integrates them together. Budokon studies the tree of life as a whole rather than limiting itself to one branch. This tree is a great organization of diverse elements yoked together by the unifying natural law. Budokon seeks to understand this law and teach its principles.

The BUDOKON®YOGA style is best described as a transition based hatha Yoga flow with continuous circular rotation. The style honors its traditional roots of Hatha (posture based) Yoga while bringing a completely unique Martial Arts circular influence. This flow was created by Hatha Yoga Master and Martial Arts Grandmaster Kancho Cameron Shayne.


All students learn and are tested in the 6 pillars of the Budokon System.


Under this pillar we learn to master yogic asana, martial arts standing & ground fighting (including striking, throws, and submissions), the Budokon animal series, and much more. As students progress in belt rank they will build upon the base knowledge they have learned from the previous belt.


In this area of our curriculum we study brain development, language, cognition and neurology. Under this pillar of our system we cover a broad range of topics including belief systems, perception, critical thinking and ego state, showing up, standing in truth, ethics, and values.


In this area of our curriculum we learn how our personal story (our perception of our life up to now) guides our daily emotions towards bio-chemical relationships we develop within our bodies and our addictions to these states and feelings. We learn a process of thought watching that allows us to identify emotion as a bio-chemical release based on a perception of reality that is controllable by shifting our language, beliefs, and our personal stories.


In this area of our curriculum we learn about our predetermined biological response mechanisms and how they affect our relationships.We learn skills to better communicate our needs and to understand the needs of others. We study language and its effects on perception. We develop skills to be more tolerant and to contain our emotions until they are further processed and understood.


In this area of our curriculum we learn the value of maintaining the earth that we depend upon for our quality of life. We study ways to make practical shifts in our lives in order to reduce waste and consumer driven habits. We empower ourselves with choices for our future sustainability as a species.


In this area of our curriculum we learn the power of food as medicine and poison. We study the effects of food upon the physical and emotional body and how to determine which foods are right for our individual bodies. We also learn how to choose foods that are consistent with our ethics regarding content, packaging, and production methods.
